So trying to keep this short…..I have a question I’m hoping someone may be able to answer regarding my MK2 Focus. It’s a 2006 1.6 Petrol model with the bog standard 100ps engine (not the VVT one), which I believe is a Zetec-SE or Sigma, even though it’s badged as a Duratec. The car has just done 95K, so is due a new Timing Belt at some
Posted January 28, 2022. Is the Mk2 1.6 Petrol focus sump usually fitted with a single use disposable oil drain plug? The Haynes manual simply says that some drain plugs have an integral seal, and must be replaced when changed. It does not specify which engines are fitted with which type. If the plug is re-useable, what sort of seal does it use?
I think they require short service 10000miles to reduce problems with turbos Our 1.8 is a ford made engine whereas the 1.6 is a peugeot built one. 125 bhp 1.6 Petrol Focus and it felt a bit
Apologies if this has been covered in another part of the forum but most of the threads on power loss seem to be related to the diesel engines rather than petrol. The car in question is a 1.6 petrol 100bhp 2008 Focus. The car has roughly 73k miles on it. The issue I'm having is the car seems to to lack power randomly.
I have a 2007 Ford Focus 1.6 Duratec. Completely standard. Recently it has developed a poor starting problem when completely warm. From cold it is generally ok. The battery turns over the starter no problem. The engine has maybe one or two brief catches but no more. By 'catch' I mean what appears to be just one spark.
It's much more reliable than the 1.8 which is a Mazda engine usually with piston rings or throttle body problems. 2.0L has a bit more power and decent economy for a 2L. Apart form the displacement the 1.8 and 2.0 that are used on the Focus MK2/MK2.5 are technically identical. Both belong to the Duratec HE engine family.
There are 2 1.6 petrol engines listed: normally identified as '100PS' and '115PS' (this seems to be the way the dealers list cars - they can't be bothered with all this Ti-VCT stuff) 1.6L chain-cam Duratec 100PS, Euro 3&4, 161g/km CO2, 42.2mpg combined, 111mph, 0-60 11.6 secs.
